I am currently full time staff with the Sociology Department and am interested in auditing the French I class during the spring semester. Online Registration shows that all classes are currently full, but I would like to be added to the wait list. It is my understanding that some correspondence needs to occur between your department and the Admissions Office, and also there is a form in your department I need. I forget how all this works.
Do you think there is a possibility that I will be able to audit one of these classes? I am fairly flexible with class time, however I would prefer something later in the day on account of early morning meetings. Please let me know if you think I can fit, and if so, let me know where I need to start with the paperwork.
Ah, where to start...
- Really you should at least skim my earlier post re: this jamook, the better to see that MOST OF THIS WAS ALREADY ANSWERED, for crying out loud!
- Again I wonder how someone who actively works in a department can not know that the responsibility of researching how The Student should go about auditing a class lies wholly with The Student.
- What I didn't mention above is that this was sent to three of us. Mind you, our names are on the online registration pages, so I'm not sure why he seems confused as to who is teaching the sections he is interested in. Alternatively he just wants us to have a little Which Section Would Fit the Best with Jason's Schedule meeting, work it all out for him, and let him know.
- Not only was he told most of the info he needs here by me and by a knowledgeable member of the Registrar's office in August, he actually went so far as to get the paperwork going and it made it all the way to our dept. before he changed his mind (and neglected to apprise me of same for another 2 weeks til I asked him about it since I had been saving a spot for him - a spot that could have gone to a student who knew how to be responsible and register instead of pussy-footing around getting hand-held thru the process, that is).
Nonetheless I was fairly cordial when I wrote him back:
As before, you'll need to contact the Registrar or else the Romance Lang. dept. to find out how to go about adding as an auditor - whenever you have paperwork to show, that's where the instructor comes in. There might be some changes to the schedule for spring; it should be finalized later this week so keep checking online to see who's teaching the sections you're interested in; instructors' names are clearly marked in Online Reg.
I'm really glad all my sections are full at the moment and I have no intention of upping the student cap. for someone who has already shown themselves to be 3 times as lame as some of the worst graded students, and that's saying something.
And I'm REALLY REALLY glad I'm not an admin. asst. in his department; my vision of this guy is that he's one of the severe Buried-in-his-Research types who can't even do a xerox on his own; worse, heaven forbid he actually need to do any admin. stuff for any courses he might be teaching. I guess his TAs do all that stuff for him. Kinda wish he'da thought to let them do this as well; they probably would have been much more efficient.
*Name and department designation changed to protect the brainless.
