Could you please explain passé composé, imparfait, and plus-que-parfait to me? I think I'm confused.

Note to readers: not only do these grammar points entail nearly an entire chapter each in the textbook (well OK, imp and PQP are put together in one chapter), but this person's final exam is in 3.2 hours, AND he's one of those that I assumed would bag the final since he has fulfilled minimal course requirements since mid-October or so, and hasn't passed a quiz or a test since then either.

Dear D,
I'm sorry but those are way too heavy to explain in an email. Please call the office and let's schedule an appt. before your exam to talk about it. I'm here all day tho other appt's are going on periodically.
