incredible exam behavior

When did it become OK for students to ask you to explain grammar points to them during a foreign language exam?

...I can't remember the subjunctive root for this verb, but maybe I don't need subjunctive here anyway???

When did it become OK for students to ask you to translate certain words or sentences in a foreign language exam (i.e. vocab that they are expected to know)?

...Does this mean more schools or less schools?

When did it become OK for students to show you a given answer on the exam and ask whether it's right or not, while they're still working on it?

...Can't you just tell me if I'm on the right track?

Or, when did students start thinking that one would actually do any of these things?

Or, scarier, what other instructors are doing these things?
