You never can tell

Funny. I guess with all my bitching and despite the fact that I know for certain that I’m not as good at keeping a poker face when disgruntled with students as I used to be, I must not be doing so badly…. Kristina just told me that in her 1020 they were talking about previous instructors and my name came up and the handful who had me were raving about me… (yeah whatever – that’s not why I’m mentioning this)… among them was Eleanor Napier (code name :) who I truly thought despised me last semester. I had docked her on participation a few times due to excuses that she didn’t have and thought she had turned in, plus I thought of her as kind of one of those bored know-it-alls who always take 1010 unnecessarily, altho unlike most she actually did the work and came to class most of the time. Anyway Kristina said EN said I was a great instructor and “really cute.” Crazy. I guess that proves beyond all doubt that I really can’t read them quite as well as I like to think. Which is good news on days when I think they all hate me – cause it’s a fair bet that there are probably a few at least about whom I’m mistaken. Yeah well I invented guarded optimism, didn’t you know?!
