This will be slightly redundant for any of you who keep up on both blogs but whatever. My standard retort applies: sue me. (Well not literally, because, hello?!, no money whatsoever so kinda futile, duh.)
Anyway we had lab orientation today and it went great. I was surprisingly succinct (which is easier to type than to say) and yet uncommonly fun and quirky at the same time! Then we had our second Mini-Quiz!!! I’m sure my SS this semester will have very nice things to say about those…. Actually they are not hugely scary and I would be surprised not to have some very positive comments about them. Also I’m curious to see if they help people’s performance in other areas since they’re targeting all the memorization-y stuff which is always the weakest chunk of material.
Speaking of eval’s I made the mistake of reading last semester’s official eval’s and I should have avoided the 11h class but against my better judgment read them after all. Of course I could tell exactly which one was written by Mr. Jerk-off Tap-my-watch-all-the-time Bitch-about-Quia-but-heaven-forbid-you-ever-come-to-office-hours who proceeded to enumerate all the ways he was bored and all the various course components which were useless and/or in fact hindered learning. (See aforementioned lack of coming to office hours and being more concerned with what time it was or [not to mention] figuring out new-and-improved ways to glare at one’s instructor than what was going on in class and - wow - big mystery that this person learned nothing, which for the record was indeed manifest in his grade.) And by the way, GIVE ME A GIGANTIC FUCKING BREAK.
Anyway. Then, since I wasn’t feeling badly enough (perverse that even when rationally I know it’s the students’ fault, those comments still get to me just as much if not more than comments which are really justified) I went on RMP, but lo and behold I had a couple of good ones put on there recently. So whatever. I noticed in the course list that Mr. Jerk-Off is now in Dr. M’s class so, geez, if he was bored with me, well um… let’s just say he may even start to feel a twinge of nostalgia for those old days in 101…..
