orals

Well it's that wondrous time for oral interviews now. Always a delight.... Huff. I always forget what an enormous drag it is grading these wretched things. It makes me really mad, too (yeah I know - what doesn't?): invariably about 80% of the students who could really rock on the orals with very little effort, neglect to make that effort, thereby making those hours even worse than they would be ordinarily. Then the true NFAs (no functional ability) are painful to grade, too, but in a heartbreaking way instead of an angering one. In between are a few dear souls who are truly conscientious and took the assignment seriously; 2/3 of them are moderately fun to talk to, the other third an absolute joy.

So 112 students divided by 3, divided by 3, times 3 minutes each, equals roughly 37 enjoyable or at least painless minutes out of the 400 I will spend sitting in the classroom for this.

Where's the attitude adjustment store again?
